The IT world became a lot more risky
when we went to broadband...

Trying to predict an outage is impossible, being prepared for one is not. Over the last decade, business continuity has evolved from a good idea into an absolute necessity. However, in today’s environment of tighter budgets and limited resources the costs involved in structuring a proper DR and BCP solution will continue to be a paramount issue.

A recent Symantec Corporation survey of 1,000 respondents revealed that nearly one-third of IT managers have had to implement some part of their disaster recovery plan in the previous year. According to the same survey 55% of IT Managers say their company is re-evaluating disaster recovery plans due to virtualisation. Additionally, new technologies are testing traditional methods of back-up and data protection.

Previously, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions revolved around having identical hardware and systems in place at the recovery site. Today, virtualisation technologies will allow many organisations to achieve this end with lower costs and improved results.
